Arkansas State University Childhood Services partnered with the Walker Pre-Kindergarten Center to host a coaching practicum seminar for early education administrators. Ten administrators from five surrounding counties participated in the three-day event, which was facilitated by Diana Courson from A-State. In the classrooms, participants practiced the three steps of Powerful Interactions, an approach for connecting with children to extend their learning. Participants then returned to the meeting room to practice crafting and providing strengths-based coaching feedback. The administrators will return to their early education programs with enhanced knowledge and skills for supporting teachers in elevating their interactions and instructional strategies. According to Mrs. Courson, the Walker Pre-K Center was selected not only because it has multiple classrooms, but also because it is known in the state as a high-quality early childhood program.
