*Teacher Spotlight* Katie Herren teaches in our math department at MHS. Mrs. Herren says that "Once a panther, always a panther. I love getting the opportunity to teach at my alma mater! I love seeing kids find something they are excited about in math, especially if they come to me disliking the subject." We appreciate you, and love having you here at MHS!

The work-based learning students at MHS were joined this morning by employees from Bodcaw Bank. Kelly Fatherree, Aniya Banks, Kaitlyn O'Donnell, and Jenny Marie Whitehead spoke to our students about checking and savings accounts. Thank you for the cool sunglasses, and for teaching us how to write and endorse checks!

Mrs. Owens caught Mr. Ford doing something awesome today. "Some of the players in my room were stressing about tying their ties for the game tomorrow. Coach Ford came in and gave them lessons on how to do it. They are going to look sharp!"

Melissa Rowe teaches in our science department at MHS. Mrs. Rowe says that "My goal is to be the teacher I needed when I was younger and to share my love of science and learning with my students." The Magnolia Panther Fishing Team is at the Bassmaster Highschool National Championship at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, South Carolina. Over 300 teams from around the country will be competing for the National title. The tournament started Monday August 7 with three practice days. Official competition starts Thursday August 11 and runs for three days. The top 12 teams compete Saturday for the championship. The tournament and weigh-in can be watched live at Bassmaster.com starting Thursday at 2:20 Eastern time and each day thereafter. The Panther fishing team members are Trace and Levi Loe (Stanley Loe, Boat Captain), Collin Hampton and Lucas Cheatham (Chase Hampton, Boat Captain). 25 teams out of over 250 from all over Arkansas qualified to compete in the championship tournament by fishing local trails, The Arkansas State Bassmaster Tournament at Greers Ferry and Bassmaster Highschool Open tournaments. This is a huge accomplishment, and we are very proud of these students. This would not be possible without Magnolia Public School and local business sponsors. We would like to thank Mr. Ward and Magnolia Public Schools, HealthQuest Therapy, Bo Moses Trucking, Steve's Marine, Circle W Guns and Feed, Mod Maverick Studio, Pinner Plumbing, Prescott Raceway, Prince Pharmacy, Ivan Smith Magnolia, Magnolia Motor Company, Cornerstone Childcare, and Whitehead Marine.
