After one year with Magnolia School District, we are honored to announce our very own Coach Williams has been named the 4A-8 Girl’s Basketball Coach of the Year! Thank you so much for everything you do for our students and representing us so well!

Effective immediately, the board has removed the district's mask policy and specifically included COVID-19 in MSD policy 4.34 Communicable Disease and Parasites. Any positive COVID-19 cases will be handled under the guidance of MSD policy 4.34. In addition, the board voted to terminate contact tracing by the district.

MHS Teacher Cadet and Senior, Tekeithia Lambert, did a full day of field experience with Ms. Joni Bonds last Thursday at Central. Tekeithia is doing her field experience in Ms. Bonds's 4th grade class this semester. Thursday she spent the whole day with Ms. Bonds getting an idea of what a day in the life of a teacher on class party day is like!

MHS Teacher Cadet and Senior, Olivia Munn, is doing a full day of field experience with Miss Gabrielle Gleason today at Central. Olivia is doing her field experience in Miss Gleason's 3rd grade class this semester. Today she is excited to teach a lesson about George Washington Carver and to attend the Valentine's Day Party with her class.

MHS Teacher Cadet and Senior, Myka Craig, is doing a full day of field experience with Ms. Ashley Hagaman today at Central. Myka is doing her field experience in Ms. Hagaman's 3rd grade class this semester. Today she is excited to teach a lesson independently and to attend the Valentine's Day Party with her class.

BAKER SIGNS WITH SAU FOOTBALL Magnolia High School senior, Jay Todd Baker, recently signed a letter of intent to play football for the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders. Jay Todd finished an outstanding career as a punter/kicker for the Magnolia Panther football team. While playing for the Panthers, Baker was a two-time All-Conference and All-State selection. He was named the 2021 5A South Outstanding Punter/Kicker and selected to play in the 2022 FCA Arkansas vs Texas All-Star Game. During his high school career, Baker averaged a remarkable 41.3 yards per punt and had an 89% conversion rate for his field goals and extra points. He also scored 157 points for MHS during his career. Jay Todd is the son of Carey Baker and the late Jamie Baker.

NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR WEEK IN ARKANSAS Governor Asa Hutchinson has proclaimed the week of February 7-11, 2022 as National School Counselor Week in Arkansas to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within the U.S. school system and how students are different as a result of what they do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students meet their college and career aspirations. The Magnolia School District recognizes the contributions of nine school counselors employed by the District. Each day these counselors make significant contributions to lives of our children. The District greatly appreciates the remarkable work these counselors do to provide a positive influence on the future of all students. Arkansas Boys and Girls State Taking Applications Arkansas Boys and Girls State programs are returning to in-person formats for 2022! Boys State will be held at the University of Central Arkansas May 29-June 3. Girls State will be held at Harding University during the same time period. Any junior who is interested in applying should see Mrs. Callicott before February 4. Benefits of attending include: • Learn about political, governmental, and civic structures • Learn to communicate your views • Build meaningful relationships with those of different world views • Build networks/lifelong relationships with other students • Create lasting memories • Use this experience on future college essays, employment applications, etc.
